Spicebush is dioecious, meaning that both male and female plants are needed for pollination.  The female plants bear the fruit, and are more attractive.   Perfect specimen shrub for a shady, woodsy, naturalized setting.   Grows naturally in N. Fla and other eastern states in low woods and along streams.
